Pair of mirrored wall lights in engraved glass and giltwood, Italy, circa 1950

480 €

An elegant pair of two-branch wall lights, Italian work or in the Venetian taste, dating from the mid-twentieth century (circa 1950).

Each sconce comprises a shaped and curved mirror plate with bevelled edge, forming a reflective backplate. The glass is richly intaglio-engraved and enhanced with gilt and sanded motifs, depicting at the summit a stylised foliate motif flanked by stars, together with generous leafy scrolls tracing the contours.

The lower structure supporting the two branches is executed in carved and gilded wood with an antiqued patina.

The curved branches with double moulding support moulded drip-pans. The backs retain their original plywood.

Very good overall condition.

Original electrification.
